Enough with the Peas, PLEASE

As I sit here, Istra is sitting beside me in her highchair. She is wearing a green shirt which almost hides the fact that she is nearly completely covered in green slime.

The first time I gave Istra peas, she liked them. They were peas from a jar bought at a store. So I went to the health food store and bought a bag of frozen organic peas to cook and blend up myself for her. I was heartened by the fact that she seemed to like the whole cooked peas just as much as the puree; she loved for me to pop them and then stick them in her mouth. So I threw the whole bag of peas in the blender.

Well, she hates them. This is the third time I've tried to get her to eat them and tonight was the most violent reaction so far--she shuddered like she was having some kind of pea-induced seizure and then ejected the green goo down the front of her shirt.

So, I figured since she already got peas on her shirt, why not let her have a little fun. I put some of the goo on her highchair tray and let her go to town. So she likes peas now; she likes mushing them with her fingers and then rubbing it all over her face and in her hair. Whee.

I'm in the market for a good pea soup recipe if anyone's got one.
