I Scream, You Scream

I don't like writing about this because I feel like I'm going to jinx something, but I'm crossing my fingers--for the past three nights Istra has slept so well! For two nights she slept for four hours straight and then three hours straight and then last night she slept for very nearly five hours straight and then woke up, nursed briefly and then went back to sleep for another four hours! It was amazing. I feel almost normal.

Of course, this could change and probably will; so I guess I should just enjoy it when it happens and cope when it doesn't. But it sure would be nice if this kept up through to September!

I'm also starting a bit of an experiment with dairy. This all started with Tim buying a pint (I think) of So Good soy "ice cream" for us to try because quite frankly it is summer and ice cream is a necessity! The soy-cream was okay, though it had a strange "greasy" texture or aftertaste. It was butterscotch flavour too, which isn't my absolute favourite. Anyway, so I thought I would go to the health food store and see what their prices were like for the dairy alternatives. I priced out the various soy-creams and the Rice Dream ice cream, but found that the cheapest was some goat's milk ice cream. So I bought it. I've heard that goat's milk doesn't have the same effect on babies' digestive systems as cow's milk, so I guess we're about to find out (and if it is not a successful trial I suppose all that nice stuff I wrote about Istra's sleeping will no longer be valid!).

Tomorrow we're hitching a ride north with Tim's mom and visiting with my mom and sister for a bit before heading to the cottage. Hopefully this nice cool weather keeps up so I don't pine for my air conditioning while we are away.

Oh yes, and Happy Anniversary to us.
